O Malley resigns over Christ Hospital abortion policy
State Sen. Patrick O Malley R Palos Park resigns from Christ Hospital governing council in protest of Advocate Health Care policy restricting abortions. He cites community standards and personal conviction amid months of protests over abortions at Christ Hospital and other Advocate facilities. The policy limits abortions to specific cases and requires parental consent for minors in line with state law. O Malley states his decision blends political and personal factors and highlights concerns about transparency and abortion procedures for minors.
