Marian Catholic High Goes High Tech for Fitness
Marian Catholic High School in Chicago Heights introduces a computer based physical assessment program for physical education. Students will be tested on the HealthFirst TriFit 600 and data software tracks cardiovascular fitness. Additional programs help build daily exercise plans and nutrition guidance for a lifelong healthy lifestyle. The initiative aims to boost self esteem by promoting 15 to 20 minutes of daily exercise and marks the first private Illinois school to adopt the system.

Prairie-Hills sets speech contest at Oct 25 event
The 22nd annual Public Speaking Contest for Prairie Hills Elementary School District 144 is set for October 25. From over 2,000 participants in grades 3 through 8, 31 students will represent their schools. The program awards two gold and three silver medals per grade level, with gold winners presenting to the audience. Judging occurs at Highlands Elementary School.

Teacher earns study grant for summer at Starved Rock State Park
