The district holds a district-wide parent meeting 6 to 7 p.m. Monday at the 21st Century Preparatory Center Park Forest with child care. The Education Committee meets 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the district office. Crete Public Library's Food for Fines runs Monday through Dec 11 allowing non-perishable items to offset fines at Crete library only.
Wednesday officials from the Cook County State's Attorney Office led a 7 p.m. presentation on the Juvenile Justice Reform Act of 1999 at the Shirley J. Green Community Center located at 22013. The event highlighted reform goals and program details for residents and local groups.

Crete hosts its annual Country Christmas weekend December 3 to 5 with a house tour of five transformed homes, carriage rides with Holly Bear and Santa, a craft bazaar, a lights parade, St. Nick arrival, breakfast with Santa, and a memorial tree lighting at Crete Park. Matteson Historical Society hosts Holiday Candlelight Dinner and Concert December 3 at St Paul s Church with Madrigal Singers and proceeds supporting local museums. The Village of University Park hosts its annual Tree Lighting Ceremony December 4 at 5 p.m. on the village hall lawn with a pre ceremony carol at 4 45 p.m. Village President Edward Palmer will switch on the lights and Rev Delian Eberhart will give the invocation. A 5 30 p.m. holiday concert follows at Crete Monee Middle School. Also today the Matteson Park and Recreation Department offers a Poinsettia Surprise workshop for children 6 12 from 10 to 11 30 a.m. at the Matteson Community Center with a 10 15 15 fee.
