Matteson Officer Resigns Over Residency Rule

Malcolm Domie, hired in April 1998 by the Matteson Police Department, resigned after 19 months citing the village residency ordinance. He moved to a western suburb after five months of searching for affordable housing and met the October 6 residency deadline by renting. The village requires proof of residency within 18 months or faces discharge, with a referendum on keeping or repealing the ordinance set for the April 2000 election.
