Governor delayed visit as gun control bill eyed at school
Gov George Ryan planned to sign a mandatory trigger lock gun bill at Carl Sandburg High School to back state Sen William Mahar. Extended session in Springfield delayed confirmation of the trip. The measure would require trigger locks or secure storage and hold owners responsible if a child harms someone. Mahar called it a milestone amid Littleton tragedy and NRA opposition.
