Bill to shield police dogs and horses nationwide
U S Representative Jerry Weller introduced the Federal Law Enforcement Animal Protection Act to punish assault or killing of police animals serving federal agencies. The measure seeks fines up to 1000 dollars and up to one year in jail for harm, with steeper penalties for disabling or killing an animal. Co sponsors include Rothman and Chabot with support from several national law enforcement and humane groups.
