Scientist School Board President Teaches Weather Wonders
Doug Sisterson, president of Homer Community Consolidated School District 33-C and Argonne National Laboratory meteorologist, visits Jerling Junior High in Orland Park to explain tornado science. He uses demonstrations like a whip crack to show sound and Doppler radar to teach storm classification and critical thinking. He reaches 20 to 30 schools yearly and collaborates with We Care Roll Model programs to engage inner city youth.
