Atrium Center in Chicago Heights Lacks Water Meter Since 1987
City officials found the Atrium Professional Center at 222 Vollmer Road has operated without a water meter since it was built in 1987. Tenants have paid only service charges, with use billed after meters were installed for four tenants in December and January. Authorities consider owner responsibility and potential shared fault with the city in permitting. City seeks bids for a centralized meter system, after rejecting a prior $3 million proposal.
