Dedication of Dennis Holt tot lot at Heartland drive

The Richton Park village board unanimously approved a resolution dedicating the tot lot at Heartland drive as the Dennis Holt tot lot in memory of a local child who died of cancer. A dedication ceremony is set for Wednesday at 7 30 p m. Dennis Holt, born May 18 1967, lived 11 years in the village and was active in sports and scouting. The memorial fund aided other children, and the board also honored William Brendemuhl Jr. for service on the planning commission. The meeting covered ordinance amendments to village licensing of filling stations and adjusted the 1983 MFT program budget to 93 000. The 1983 84 plan includes sidewalk replacement 12 400 drainage 6 000 Imperial drive inlets 1 000 pavement repairs 26 000 emergencies 10 000.

Richton Park approves water bond sale and interconnect plan

Richton Park trustees approved a 450000 water bond issue planned for May 23 to fund water improvements including a six inch main replacement between Ridgeway and Lawndale. The board also authorized an emergency interconnection with Park Forest and a 15700 plan cost, with bond issuance details and tax abatement timing to be decided.

Matteson trustees hear flood plan dispute and liquor license rise

Matteson village board discussed flood control plans after a homeowners association objected to state meetings and a consultant proposed an alternative. The state requires further study before issuing phase two permits. Trustees also approved increasing Class E liquor licenses from one to three amid the ongoing flood project discussions.

Homewood Police Affiliate With Fraternal Order of Police

Homewood police will form a local lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police becoming the third area department this year to affiliate and the first to seek a collective bargaining agreement. The unit plans to press village officials for recognition as bargaining agent while denying any strike plans.
