Protesters Rally Over Peotone Airport Plan Amid Tie to Daley Site

Demonstrators across Illinois push back against airport growth, citing land loss and environmental impact as Edgar backs the Peotone site with a $2 million federal grant for a two year preliminary study. Anne Teeling traveled from Lisle to protest on behalf of a rural Monee tree farm owner, George Ochsenfeld, whose 10 acre property sits near the proposed runway and who urges repairs to the city instead of farming land. University Park Village President Vernon Young, an airport backer, acknowledged passionate opposition but urged involvement in planning to ensure a balanced outcome.
