Survivors may hold key to fire at Clark Refinery
Fire investigators hope three survivors from the Clark Oil Refinery blaze in Blue Island can provide firsthand details to determine the cause. Two workers died from carbon monoxide and smoke inhalation. Investigations consider where the fire started, whether Isomax unit or break room sparked it, as eight refinery units remain closed by court order.

Cellular 911 Now Available in Will County
Will County motorists can reach emergency services by cellular 911 since March 1. Chief Administrator John Karabas says calls are free with no roaming charges for outsiders. Dispatch centers in Peotone, Lincolnway, Joliet, Laraway Road, and Wescom handle portable calls, with about 15 to 20 such calls daily. If a portable 911 fails, dial 999. The system uses extra trunk lines to avoid tying up regular calls. Cellular 911 is now also offered in Kane Kendall McHenry Kankakee and DuPage counties.

Correction clarifies Blue Island refinery deaths
APC News Service corrects earlier report on the Blue Island Clark Oil refinery blast. Two men killed Monday were in a break room in a building adjacent to the Isomax unit, not working on a heater valve as previously stated. The three injured were actually working on the heater valve in the Isomax unit.
