The SPEED Governing Board will convene Thursday at 7 30 p m in the SPEED Center second floor conference room 1125 Division St Chicago Heights. Open to the public. SPEED serves 15 school districts in the area. The Nifty Over Fifty Club hosts a dinner and dance for Mother's and Father's Day on May 12 from 6 to 10 p.m. at Contempo 104 W Sauk Trail. Registration opens for St Joseph School 1995 96 year
Registration for the 1995 96 school year is now being taken at St Joseph School 17949 Dixie Highway Homewood. Parents may register Mon through Fri 8 30 11 am and noon 2 pm. Incoming preschoolers must be 3 or 4 by Sept 1. kindergartners and first graders must be 5 by Sept 1. A birth or baptismal certificate is required if not baptized at St Joseph. For later grades, bring last report card and test scores and a certificate if not baptized at St Joseph. A non refundable registration fee is required.

Rock Run Preserve to Get $117,500 OSLAD Grant
The Forest Preserve District of Will County received a 117500 grant from Illinois Open Space Land Acquisition program to develop Rock Run Preserve on Black Road Joliet. The project includes a 1.25 mile nature trail shelter parking latrines and wetland restoration with public access planned for spring 1996.

Prairie State College students named to all state academic team
Two PSC students Erler of Homewood and Spaniak of Park Forest earned a spot on the Phi Theta Kappa All-State academic team. Erler maintains a 4.0 GPA, plans to teach college science, and tutors at Arcadia Elementary. Spaniak, a 4.0 student, is PSC student trustee and College Bowl captain who aims to teach high school English. The Phi Theta Kappa honor society involves 70,000 members across 7,000 campuses in the U S Canada and Germany. The Illinois nomination included 51 community college students from 40 Illinois colleges. PSC’s PTK chapter has 60 members.
