Hospital nurses near agreement at Joliet Medical Center
A tentative contract settlement ended the nurses strike at Joliet’s St Joseph Medical Center. Illinois Nurses Association unit members will vote Friday on the deal, with back-to-work calls driven by seniority and possible start as soon as Sunday within seven to ten days. The accord includes staffing safeguards, a patient care committee, and across the board pay raises through 1995, praised as the first contract after Illinois’ longest nurse strike.
