Night blaze destroys Matteson Lumber Company building
A 12 hour fire at Matte son Lumber Company at 21715 Main Street wiped out the main lumber and storage area and damaged nearby structures. Firefighters o n duty from 9 pm Saturday to 9 am Sunday battled the blaze with three pumps, a snorkel unit and an ambulance. No injuries reported. The cause is under investigation by the fire marshal and Matteson police and fire departments. The loss includes two trucks a forklift and a bucket loader valued at 75000 and lumber and materials estimated at 160000. Park Forest fire personnel assisted on standby.
