Democrats push for Cook County riverboat casino in South Suburbs
Senate Democrats renewed a push for riverboat gambling in Cook County with a plan to move a license from East Dubuque to the South Suburbs. The proposal faced opposition from the Illinois Legislative Black Caucus and others who fear economic impact and licensing changes. Local officials argued South Suburbs need, and could benefit from, liquor and tax revenue if a casino is allowed.
