Prairie State College proposes 3% property tax hike
Prairie State College's 1995 levy requests a 3 percent overall tax increase with a 38 cent per $100 valuation rate. The plan channels funds to education and maintenance while reducing bond and interest outlays and funds a new Learning Resources Center and Community Instructional Center. A tax abatement was also approved for Rohm and Hass Illinois to expand its Chicago Heights plant, potentially shifting tax revenues for five years before full taxes resume. The board also approved new student conduct and academic forgiveness policies addressing campus misconduct and related student discipline.
