Any amount leads to a three month license loss. refusal to take a breath test carries six months. Repeat offenses trigger year long suspensions, or two years if a test is refused. Officials cite safety data and the central aim is to deter teen drinking and driving.
Joanne Zerkel reports that about 2500 food baskets were distributed through Project Share last week as thousands lined up at eight local agencies for food and gifts. Nonperishable items toys and winter clothing were donated by newspaper readers. Project Share marked its 20th year since 1974 when it fed 300 families.
U.S. Rep. George E. Sangmeister of Illinois, 63, D-Mokena, retires after three decades in public service. He plans to return to law with McKeown Fitzgerald Zollner Buck Hutchison and Rattle in Joliet and Frankfort starting Jan 3, 1995, while keeping future political doors open.
