Area Churches Schedule New Year and Christmas Rites
New Year's Eve services and Christmas observances are planned across Matteson churches. Zion Lutheran hosts confession and remembrance at 7:30 p.m. with a 9 a.m. Christmas story presentation today and an 11 p.m. holy communion service. Immanuel Lutheran in Cicero and Sauk Trail holds multiple services including a 6:30 p.m. German festival, 7 p.m. children program, and 11 p.m. candlelight. Holy Trinity offers student recognition at 9:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. Sunday school. Faith United Christ and others schedule candlelit services and holy communion on Christmas Day. Public school districts close for holiday recess with a 1:30 p.m. dismissal and return January 4.
