AOK Campground Near Chicago Area Moves Toward Rezoning
The A-OK Campground on 19996 S. LaGrange Rd in Mokena faces rezoning to retail use after land ownership changed several years ago. The Plan Commission recommended approval despite no public opposition, with officials predicting the site will close to campers within about two years as a national retailer eyed the 10 acre site. Nearby campgrounds fear further erosion as development encroaches on rural spaces south and west of Chicago.
