Judge blocks bail at fifty thousand in fatal drunk driving case
A 30-year-old University Park man, Charles Blue, remains jailed on a 50 000 cash bond after a judge ordered house arrest with electronic monitoring if posted. He is charged with reckless homicide and aggravated driving after a July crash on Interstate 57 near 183rd Street that killed Daren Perozzi, 22, of Olympia Fields, and left Jason Leavitt, 22, paralyzed. Prosecutors sought 100 000 cash bond citing BAC above .20 and speeding. Blue, who never had a license and had three prior tickets, faces probation possible if convicted.
