Village officials discussed a 360,000 square foot ACCO International distribution center at the industrial park with a $4.5 million loan and 20 acres to be acquired. Groundbreaking could occur by week’s end, with jobs for University Park residents and a remote personnel office to hire locally. Taxes on the property are expected to yield about $160,000 next year, even if vacant.

Illinois counties diverge on automation systems

The State’s Attorney’s Office notes no statewide funding for automation, prompting Will Lake Kane Cook and DuPage to use an IBM mainframe for many cases while downstate counties opt for PCs. Remaining issues include a Public Defender program, jail management system decisions, and attorney identification in Will County. Delivery of the software is expected by early next month.
