District 227 Sees Budget Gap Narrow With State Aid Rise
District 227 officials project budget balance next year thanks to $6.7 million in state education fund revenue for 1989-90, up from $6.2 million the prior year. State share drops to about 34 percent per pupil, down from 41 percent in 1986-87. Public inspection of the budget begins today, with a hearing set Sept. 18 in Rich East Library. The board also approved hiring Mary K. Hawes as a speech pathologist, authorizing enrollment of a foreign exchange student without tuition, and naming John Naveen Co. as financial advisor underwriter for a $5 million bond issue.
