Flossmoor Man Among 46 Indicted in Market Fraud Case
Charles Bergstrom of Flossmoor is among 46 individuals indicted on racketeering and conspiracy charges under RICO. The charges include 21 counts of mail and wire fraud, 87 counts under the Commodities Exchange Act, and related offenses for allegedly defrauding customers of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and the Chicago Board of Trade. The indictment follows claims of systematic theft of customer orders and brokers profiting from unfilled and directed trades during last summer’s drought. FBI investigations involved interviewing 500 people, issuing 500 subpoenas, and reviewing a million documents.
