Changing the way America drives CATS forum looks at ways of reducing auto pollution
A Transport Control Measures workshop at South Suburban College led by CATS director Andrew Plummer explored options to cut ozone pollution. The group discussed Ridesharing, vanpooling, flexible hours, telecommuting, walking, parking strategies, traffic flow, expanded transit, HOV lanes, congestion pricing, parking restrictions, and regional fuel taxes as ways to reduce driving alone. Eric M. Schreffler of COMSIS noted parking fees, congestion pricing, and fuel tax often prove most effective, while work-hour changes and land-use policies remain exploratory.
