George Lind was convicted in Danville Corporation Court of second degree murder in the June 3 killing of Coleman at Nettie Dorsett’s house. He received a ten year penitentiary sentence after a short jury deliberation. Lind claimed no prior acquaintance with Coleman and admitted knocking down the woman. witnesses said he announced he would kill both.
Matthew Robinson charged with criminally assaulting Mrs Cimino at Pexram farm near the Portsmouth asylum on August 20 has been captured and jailed in Portsmouth. Italian colony leaders appealed for calm as threats of lynching arose while a lawyer will assist in the prosecution. Robinson denies guilt and grew nervous at arrest.
Mrs. Sallie Gholstin, of 688 Church Street, allegedly detained her daughter in law Mrs. Leslie M. Newton since a marriage against her wishes. Newton, 21, wed clerk Leslie M. Newton, 25, at Greenville, NC, and has limited street access under family supervision. The mother demands the bride adopt the Jewish faith before releasing her.
Richmond special dispatch says Chasie Traf Jeri imperial Italian consular agent conducted a personal inquiry into labor troubles at the Arvonia state quarries amid a strike. He found the eleven men involved were Spaniards, not Italians, and thus he considers the case closed for his office. The Spaniards plan to present grievances to the Spanish Legation in Washington.

Leesburg special reports Thomas J Reed miller and former foreman at Round Hill Milling Company Round Hill Loudoun County fell into grain elevator machinery on the third story. He was found unconscious with multiple broken ribs mangled arm and internal injuries. He is about fifty and has a large family.
The Corporation Court grand jury in Danville Virginia is investigating alleged income tax violations. Revenue records show less than 1000 dollars reported from individuals who appear to earn thousands annually. Hundreds of leading citizens were reviewed, with seventy five plus examined.

William Mackintosh a negro was hanged here for the murder of C W Parks in April. He denied the crime blaming Tom Lassiter who was later sent to an asylum. Mackintosh’s grandmother lives in Indianapolis and a brother serves in the Tenth U S Cavalry in the Philippines. He had been a member of Troop I, Tenth Cavalry, at San Juan Hill. The motive was robbery.
