Judge J W G Blackstone challenges Julian Pavlinic Austrian suspect as he testifies in Elizabeth County Circuit Court over the murder of his wife Elsa Pavlinic. Pavlinic claims he fired eleven 22 calibre bullets after promising to kill her if insanity returned. He says he planned to self harm to enable insurance payouts to fund repatriation of bodies. The judge expresses disbelief in the account.
Tazewell report states Charles W. Moore a 35 year old painter died from an overdose of chioral taken to sleep. He leaves a widow and was found at his home. The death is treated as accidental pending further inquiry by local authorities.
Special Judge Wad dell of the United States District Court ordered Virginia Fertilizer Trust officials to appear before the Nashville court in Tennessee for the dissolution suit. Assistant Flag General accreed was prepared for a long contest, but the defendant's attorneys finally...
Richmond special report says Moses Ferris, arrested in Argentina for murdering a Syrian, is alleged to have killed Frank Assald in Roanoke at the latter's store. Both victims were wealthy Syrian merchants and a woman sparked the trouble. Ferris identified by Roanoke Syrians' relatives, traced by detectives, and Argentina authorities were authorized to hold him for requisition.
A James River division wreck at Indian Rock near Clifton Forge caused by a landslide during heavy rains left brakeman T. L. McGehee killed instantly. Engineer E. B. Engart was fatally injured and died later in hospital. McGehee’s body was not found. Traffic delayed twelve hours as passengers and mail were transferred. both men resided in Clifton Forge.

Capitalists of Pittsburg led by Duffy and Scott have closed deals for more than 30,000 acres of timber and mineral lands in Frederick County and Hampshire and Morgan Counties West Virginia. The land includes much timber and fine quality anthracite. Branch railroads are under construction toward the tract and coal will be.
Norfolk creditors of the Scofield Company, contractors for the Jamestown Exposition pier, oppose involuntary bankruptcy in New York. No Norfolk receivership steps taken. Mrs. H. C. Williams of Madison flats second floor fought a male burglar who entered through a window at 3 A M. He grabbed her throat and stabbed her threat, but she resisted for five minutes until help arrived and the intruder fled through a back alley. The assailant was described as a white man.
Richard H. Freeman of Newport News was robbed at pistol point near Jamestown Exposition by three men described as hoboes, one in khaki trousers and army shoes. He lost 12.80 dollars and a gold watch, reported to artillery camp HQ and Pine Beach police. search failed.
Earnest Simmons once jailed in Berryville Clarke County for the death of Miss Mary Bushnell in an August auto crash was discharged by the grand jury. Evidence reportedly insufficient for bailing and he had previously stood for a preliminary hearing while free on $500 bail. The allegation claimed he threw a post into the road near Berryville, causing the crash that killed Miss Bushnell.
French aeronaut Eugene Godet conducted a flawless airship test at the Jamestown Exposition. The craft answered the rudder and circled Lee parade grounds five times before a safe landing at his building door.
Samuel J Evans a Roanoke resident and noted inventor died of acute indigestion at age 48.
