Saugus Massachusetts special report describes a blaze destroying the H. B. Newhall tide mill. Oscar Ellis and Michael Desmond of Malden perished after bodies were found near a chimney where workers slept. The mill served 5S Gould Sons Drug Co and was the river's last mill. Loss estimated at 25000 dollars.

Rev J J Blackshear who came from Mansfield Texas to occupy a Columbus pulpit was killed when lighting a match in a room with escaping natural gas. He was blown through a window about 15 feet to the ground. Alonzo Davis in the same room was severely burned.
