Ohio lawmakers seek higher prevented planting aid for flood damaged farms
Ohio’s 16 member House delegation urged Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue to raise prevented planting payments from 55 to 90 percent for Midwestern farmers blocked from planting by historic rainfall and flooding. Led by Rep. Warren Davidson, they noted $3.005 billion in disaster funds and urged flexibility as Ohio farmers work to replant after 21 Memorial Day weekend tornadoes and widespread outages.
