Water trouble halts Ridgway Burton mine near Navarre

Water intrusion at Ridgway Burton Co. South Massillon mine, 1.25 miles south of Navarre, halts operations. The 200 foot shaft holds a six foot coal seam. 500 tons daily were mined before pumps failed. Officials plan larger pumps to lower water level from 1885 feet and resume pumping.

Landmark Log House on Front Street Falls to Time

A historic Kendal landmark, an ancient log house facing Front street, collapsed from age and last night’s mild storm. It was owned by the late German woman Dishler whose will barred sale or removal, a clause never touched by heirs. Debris damaged the street as the site awaits a modern structure.
