A sketch of Senator-elect Peffer and other Alliance leaders including Jerry Simpson, described as "the seckless statesmen," will be published in Saturday's Independent.
The special committee on water rates met with Dunham and Wade from the Water Company to review the new schedule. After over three hours last night and another session this morning they adjourned to evening with the five city rates averaged to form the proposed charges. Each item is discussed and considered with general approval expected.
H. W. Loeffler of the McBeth Kennels sold the black and white setter Dick McBeth to Canton residents. Fanny McBeth whelped a litter at the North Lawrence kennels. Loeffler may take Pointer Don Croxteth No. 6255 to the New York dog show on February 24 and also consider J. H. Hunt’s noted St. Bernard Don for the trip.
The Massillon Artificial Ice works reports a daily capacity increase to ten tons of perfectly clear and pure ice frozen from distilled spring water. Prices will be very reasonable this season, with public access as cheap as natural ice from stagnant ponds or canal-like water.

Clifford Glass, who jumped bail in a criminal assault case, was arrested. he faces trial. Park debate grows as Cook heirs may yet donate again, sparking hope Canton may gain a city park.
The Charity Rotch school trustees selected A R Hanna of Tuscarawas township as superintendent from about 35 to 40 candidates. He will take effect April 1 and the school will reopen on a stronger basis. Hanna is a prominent Stark county farmer and past president of the Agricultural Society, also linked with the Horticultural Society. The board was unanimous.
Springfield dispatch reports a lengthy caucus between Republicans and Alliance men with signs of a breakthrough and potential deal forthcoming to break the deadlock.
Special Dispatch reports a severe Colorado blizzard trapping residents statewide except Denver. A round-about wire remains, and officials fear extensive property and life losses across the state.
