Philip Camp Alleged to Have Forged Note and Fled

Reports say Philip Camp forged the name of Emanual Merchand to a $1000 note, discounted it at Wilmot bank, and fled. A Beach City inquiry cites $200 as the sum, with same details. He is also said to owe about $800 in defalcations tied to trust funds, with bondsmen at risk. Camp recently sold a horse given by E B Bayliss to pasture.

Doings of the Dielhenns consolidate trades and remodels

Special dispatch reports a terrible explosion at Frick's coal mines in Monmouth. Fifty miners are dead and eighteen bodies have been recovered. New casualties possible as rescue teams search the tunnels.

The Indianapolis Sentinel reports crowds of at least 600 turned away from the Grand last night as Midnight Alarm excited a large audience.
