About one hundred miners at the Turkeyfoot Manchester mine north of the city are on strike with mixed feelings on closing the mine. Putnam Gray, a 75 year old Civil War veteran, spent forty two years building a three story castle from logs and wrecked steamboats on a river bluff near Minneiska Minnesota. The structure includes towers and water springs, crafted without nails, drawing steamboat hulls and decks for its upper levels as passengers admire the unusual residence.

Bell's Contest In Stark County Election Challenge

Depositions for Mayor Bernard Bell against James A. Welker will be taken in Justice Kaley's Massillon office December 24. Two justices of the peace will hear the case, with Justice Spidle assisting. Site in Zoar Urged for Sanatorium by Whiting

A Canton special reports Julius Whiting urged the use of the Zoar site offered by John Himeler in Tuscarawas county for a proposed state hospital. The tuberculosis commission met without deciding a site rotation and earlier narrowed the race to Logan, Wayne, Knox, and Fairfield counties before the committee disappeared and headed to Fairfield.

Resolutions Adopted by Sub-District Miners Board

The executive board of sub-district 3 district 6 United Mine Workers met in the mayor's court room and adopted policy for the state convention in Columbus. They endorsed Mayor Bell for state labor commissioner and John Morgan for mine dipper, and expressed sympathy for William Routh injured at Pocock mine Hast Greenville. Findlay Fights Saloon Crusade Under Brannock Law

An anti saloon fight starts in Findlay Ohio under the Brannock law to wipe saloons from the city except Main Street business district. A secret meeting at First Presbyterian church set up the crusade led by Brooks Lawrence of Toledo to conduct the fight.
