Champ Myers and Carl Rhoades, both about 20, were hunting west of Canal Fulton when Myers was struck by twelve pellets in the face and arms and Rhoades three in the legs. Surgeons said neither is badly hurt. Myers claimed he fired to scare, Rhoades to scare in return, and neither intended harm.

Crawford Sentenced in Petit Larceny Case
Canton, Aug. 8. William J Crawford pleaded guilty to petit larceny before Mayor Robertson and was fined $200 plus costs and sentenced to thirty days in the work house. He had been questioned in the death of Vincent Hill and confessed to removing $25 from Hill’s trousers. Detec tives also arrested Jack Carlton for stealing a gold watch from Miss Youngman of Navarre at the Elks carnival grounds. Carlton, from Massillon, is in city jail. three other men, Harry Fleishner, Sam Frantz, and William Stocket, were run in by detectives Friday.

Canton, Aug. 9 The final proceedings in removing suspicion of murder from William J. Crawford, bell-boy, occurred in private court Friday. Crawford was bound over to the common pleas court grand jury for murder, but an examining court discharged after finding Hill’s death accidental during a colt breaking. Crawford remains jailed for petit larceny, having pleaded guilty to taking $25 from the dead man’s trousers. Judge Ambler said the May term of common pleas would adjourn sine die Monday as the term closes.
