Cordell Receives Ten Year State Prison Sentence

Hubert J. Cordell pleaded guilty to a criminal assault against Louise Zettler of Stratford after his arm was shot off during the attempt. Judge Silverthorn sentenced him to ten years at hard labor in state prison, with annual periods of confinement in a sanitarium starting Sept. 7. Cordell admitted the crime. his mother attended the sentencing in tears. The case against Robertsbell of Stratford was dismissed.

Democratic caucuses elect county delegates in city wards

Democratic caucuses to elect delegates to the county convention were held Monday evening across the county. Governor La Follette Attends Grounds Reception at Fair

Commodore Boo and others announce a two day county fair program in Wood County with vaudeville acts daily. Highlights include a Friday reception by Governor La Follette on the grounds, horse races from 2:30 to 9:24, a stock parade, and purses of 300 to 500 dollars. Local drivers Joe Quinn and C Hobbs race in the hundred yard dash.

Fishermen Return With Record Muskie Catch at Bear Lake

A six fisherman party including John Brackendorf and Alex Lapoint returned from Bear Lake sixteen miles from Glidden with over 200 pounds of muskelrange. The haul featured a 25 pound fish, 4 feet 3 inches long, caught by Brackendorf with Lapoint. They traveled via Glidden and the Chippewa River, then walked back due to rough roads. A celebratory roast at the Mint was hosted by caterer J. Uy Harvey.

A Sherry Case Trial in Justice Cooper's Court

Paul Welk sues William Welk for 49.15 wages earned on a Sherry farm. The defendant counters with damages for a horse injury from the defendant's bull and breach of contract claiming plaintiff quit early, plus use of a team to visit home. A jury finds in favor of the defendant with no cause for action.
