Marshfield observes first Labor Day with parades and festivities
On Monday the town closed factories and paused business as a Labor Day parade and events unfolded under Fire Labor unions woodworkers brewers and cigarmakers. About 200 marched from the Thomas house to the cemetery where Rev Father Hisen spoke. The afternoon featured dancing and a grove gathering at Adler’s. Governor Upham and wife visited and praised the celebration. A organizing committee led by D C Piotet Chas Schwenake James Kuchmicle Aug Warneke Fred Knutson and Pa Manning oversaw the event.

The Wreck of Buffalo Bill Delays Wisconsin Show
Buffalo Bill’s Wild West show failed to reach Wausau after a railroad wreck near Rudolph ditched five cars delaying the event. About five to six thousand spectators gathered in Wausau to see the show before learning it was abandoned and they would return to Wisconsin Rapids. Some locals planned trips to Seavng Point and Junction City while awaiting trains and heard of no performance. Last Saturday afternoon at the church Rev F Thom of Neillsville pronounced Albert Werdwund and Kaw Gang man and wife. Attendants included Liyain Kreisch Kate Einergath and Rob ert Wendtland Henry Lang. The couple were serenaded by the Lutheran band at the bride’s home and hosted by Mr and Mrs Wendtland of Marshfield who extend congratulations.
