Great Marshfield Fair Endorsed as Success in All Areas
The 1907 Marshfield fair closed with broad approval from visitors exhibitors and residents. Races and ball games were close and exciting. the stock show and balloon ascensions drew crowds. Gate receipts approached $3000 over three days despite poor weather. premiums and officer elections were staged for January.

Found Dead at Sherry Aged Resident Altman
Joan Altman an elderly and infirm resident of Sherry was found dead in his bed last Tuesday morning. An inquest ruled death by natural causes, though wounds on his face and feet led to initial suspicions of violence. Rats likely caused the injuries after death, and District Attorney R E Andrews led the inquiry.

J C Jordan owns a fine buffalo kept on a Viola farm. The animal was shipped by express through Buffalo to Marathon County fair in Wausau where it will be exhibited. A large crowd gathered as the heavy beast was transferred to the Wattsall train.

Wisconsin shooters set national record at Camp Ferry
George Huntzicker returns home from Camp Ferry Ohio where he was with the Wisconsin team of shooters in the national individual rifle match. The Wisconsin team finished thirteenth among forty eight teams, marking 184 more scores than last year and suggesting they could have ranked higher if they had held their own at 1000 yards.

Fine Piano Recital by Mr Waldemar von Geltch at Presbyterian Church
Violinist Waldemar von Geltch, praised after a private recital, gives a public recital at the Presbyterian church Thursday evening. A descendant of Austro-Hungarian musicians, he studied at Chicago Musical College and earned diamond medals for Mendelssohn and postgrad work. He has toured the South and will join the State University of South Dakota Music Department soon, with Miss Etta Odenbrott at the piano.

Guernsey Breeder Meeting Adds New Members At Fairgrounds
The Guernsey Breeders Association held an enthusiastic meeting on the fair grounds the last day of the fair. A dozen new members joined and plans were made for a Farmers Institute in Marshford. Discussions covered literature exchanges, bulletins from the Agricultural College, and preserving valuable sites to extend use before sale for slaughter. Mr Passer of Anburndale shared cow and heifer earnings of eight dollars per head monthly. Further notes on the Guernsey exhibit were promised.
