New Carrier Routes Adopted For City Deliveries
The city has permanently adopted a revised carrier network after adding a fourth carrier last week. Each carrier reports timely rounds and roughly equal workload with two deliveries daily under normal conditions. Routes include Carrier No 1 Alex Johnson near Central avenue north of the Wisconsin Central tracks and Adler road. Carrier No 2 Merton Vanderhoof from 6th street to 6th street with west Central and Omaha tracks. Carrier No 3 Marcus Hanson from 3rd street to W C tracks covering east of Central and between Wisconsin Central and Northwest tracks. Carrier No 4 William Lake south of Omaha and Northwest tracks with territories south and east of Central avenue.

The Wisconsin Central files appeal from a July railroad commission ruling requiring public operation of a fifteen mile branch line from Athens in Marathon County. Central bought the line from Upham Manufacturing for 60000 and freight was not treated as common carriage. Rid River Land Co. urged open access to spur for land sale to settlers.

Bayne Dominates Galesville Racing Card
Harry Bayne led at Galesville winning the 300 dollar free-for-all with H F Below’s Ella Ofa and placing second in the 2 80 trot with Pat, the mail horse formerly of Ea Kennedy. Pat nearly matched 2 27 in heat and Bayne heads to Rice Lake this week with Dooman W W Noll’s stallion. Dooman shows a 2 214 pacing mark but will race in trotting heats for the rest of the season.

Improvements Halted On Cedar Street Crossing Plan
At the last common council meeting action to open Cedar street across the Northwestern yards was deferred. The delay follows a request from the railway company to allow time for completing new yards and side-tracks before a crossing is formed. North Western and Omaha aim to relocate yards to avoid street crossings. The 1907 Marshfield station remodel, budgeted at 98000, was halted after legislative actions disrupted the project and rescinded the appropriation, with work expected to resume next year.
