Marshfield residents learned of Gordon Chase of Oshkosh killed on a hunting trip when his body passed through the Soo line en route home. Chase, a Fountain Campbell lumber scaler, was shot in the neck by a hunter who mistook him for a deer. He leaves a wife and two children.

Cary Bluffs Man Dies in Madison Gas Tragedy
Elmer Johnson of Cary Bluffs, south of Progress, traveled to Madison October 31 to resume studies at the agricultural college. His body was brought home three days later to a distraught mother. Reports say a leaky gas fixture filled his room, causing asphyxiation before morning.

James B Hamilton dies after illness in Marshfield home
James Bruce Hamilton died Friday night at his home 313 East Third street after a yearlong illness from Brights disease. Born August 1 1845 in Newark Ohio he lived in Robinson and Marshfield and traveled for Pioneer Tractor and other firms. He is survived by wife Fiona Firman and daughter Mary and was active in Travelers Protective Association Grand Army and U C T. Funeral services were held Sunday with large attendance and prayers at the grave.

A secret shipment of five twelve inch bore coast defense guns nearly forty feet long was loaded on a north bound freight through Mershfield and Oshkosh.
