Roddis Veneer Factory Expands With New 3-Story Addition

The Roddis Lumber and Veneer Company completes a three story addition covering 323 by 108 feet. The new wing houses shipping, splicing, and a dry room with a large elevator. Output includes mahogany and quartered oak veneers sold nationwide and to Europe, with France and Germany as major markets. The plant, founded 14 years ago by A. K. Hatteberg and later led by W. H. Roddis, now employs 159 men and operates a Park Falls sawmill with logging railroad. expected log cut exceeds 10,000,000 feet plus 100,000 cedar posts and 20,000 telephone poles.

Central Wisconsin State Fair Association Heads To Close

Hon. C. J. Morrison will serve the remainder of his term as president of the Central Wisconsin State Fair association. The group is ready to close the year and pay premiums soon. Officers will complete terms in February and place the association in good condition by then.

Absence of Marshfield Cold Storage Owner Sparks Local Unease

H M Smith, proprietor of Marshfield Cold Storage, is missing leaving merchants and producers anxious over about $3,000 in unpaid accounts for butter cheese and eggs. The warehouse holds only a few live chickens while questions swirl about his whereabouts and plans. Some fear he has left for good though others suggest a health trip or temporary retreat while bonds are clipped to cover debts.
