Fatal runaway wreck kills man on Clark street bridge

Dr Doege and Dr Hayward rode with August Arendt and family when a Green Bay Western train caused a frightened horse to bolt the wagon. The collision on Clark street in Stevens Point fatally injured Arendt, who died at Mercy hospital within an hour. His son Joseph and daughter-in-law escaped serious injury.

Annual Meeting of the D A A Marshfield Chapter No 843

The Marshfield D A A Chapter 843 held its annual meeting May 19 at Mrs A E Beebee’s home in McMillan. Officers elected included Regent Mrs John P Home Vice Regent Mrs BE Finney Secretary Miss E H Kelley Treasurer Mrs W G Hinman Registrar Mrs B Elvis Chaplain Mrs A E Beebee Historian Mrs J C Marsh Program Chair. The Regent Mrs Hume spoke on the continental congress in Washington D C followed by a social meal hosted by Mrs Beebee.

Republicans Seek Unity at June Wisconsin Convention

A Milwaukee mass meeting is set for June 8 at 7 p.m. in the Auditorium to restore party unity and elect delegates by county conventions. A telegram from E L Phillip of Milwaukee asks Hon W H Upham to join the call and rally Republicans behind the national administration. Upham endorsed the plan and promised support after local consultation.

Aldermen May Wear Official Stars for Police Image

City council discussions favor providing aldermen with police style stars. Proponents argue stars would publicize powers and add twelve officers to day coverage, with aldermen distributed across wards offering broad protection.

Plans for the Group convention of bankers here Friday are completed and everything indicates a most successful meeting. About one hundred reservations have already been made at the hotels and while the capacity for entertainment will be taxed to the limit the visitors will be given the very best of service in every way. The special features an automobile ride in the afternoon and half in the evening will be made most enjoyable.
