Memorial Day Plans Recall Local Observance Details
Company A will oversee the Decoration Day observance with the Second Regiment band acting as military escort for the G A R Post. A committee led by Lieut. Francis Denninger Wins League Declamatory Contest

Francis Denninger, nephew of artists Jos and John Stierle and former Marshfield high Spool student, won first honors representing Darlington high school with The Mount of Laws. Aged Woman Burned at County Line Home
Mrs. Wenzel Hartl aged 75 died from fatal burns received last Sunday morning when a newspaper she carried in the kitchen touched a stove and caught fire. Her daughter Mrs. Weigl was seriously burned trying to aid. Survived by two daughters, funeral set for 9 a.m. at St. John's church.

Arlington Avenue Extension Proposed by City Board
At a board of public works meeting Vieworks Monday evening a resolution passed to extend Arlington Avenue to the city line road on the western municipal limits. Condemnation will determine land value. Plans also include cinders on Central Avenue from Tremmel's corner to the waterworks plant serving as sidewalk and street. Cement walks to be laid on the east side of the city park with tarp and gutter. The band stand roof will be removed and the space used as a shelter for bears in the water works park.

Eighth Grade Commencement Sets Freshman Class for High School
