Cripsis Narrow Encare At Paris Opera On Eve Of Assassination
The Courrier des Etats Uole reports that on January 14 1858 the late Francesco Crispi then a political refugee in Paris received two gallery tickets for a performance the emperor and empress were to attend. Chapk and his wife were penniless and could not buy candles or matches. They declined the treat, preferring poverty to borrowing. Next morning they learned of Orsini’s attack on the emperor, police raids, and arrests of all Italians near the theater. Crispi was present and would likely have been among the first arrested as a known Mazzinian.

Strange Candle Flames in Arctic Cold Experiment
Dr. Moss of the English polar expedition describes extreme cold causing candles to burn weakly. Temperatures 35 to 50 degrees below zero left the flame unable to melt tallow, forcing observers to cut the candle down. A glow formed as the thin wax wing melted into a pale white face-like shape with yellow fumes streaking inward.

Odd Renaissance Menu Tales and Threefold Biblical Echoes
A garbled reminiscence blends historic curiosities with biblical numerology. It cites 16th century English accounts of eating seals and porpoise, Henry VII celebrations, and Cromwell era mentions. The piece then shifts to praise in Burmese court language and a spree of threefold biblical motifs from creation to the Trinity and triple repetitions in scripture.
