Water and Granite Lay Claim to Marshfield as a future water power site and granite source eight miles south near Big Bull Falls on the Yellow River. Early dam ruins, granite boulders, and a possible one hundred year water supply are cited with Welton backing. Pravel Class Banquet Marks Lad ies Travel Class Event

The annual banquet of the Ladies Travel Class was held Monday evening at Deming hall. Red and white decorations, elaborate menu, and a well satisfied inner man preceded toast master Mrs. W. H. Rodd retiring president. Officers sat at the head table with candles and shades. The sophomore class served, delivering attentive, able service throughout.

Schroeder to be discharged in shooting case

John Schroeder of Marshfield, bound over to circuit court on a Dec 6 shooting charge against Fred L. Frederick, will be discharged due to lack of evidence when his case is heard in Grand Rapids this week. Schroeder maintains innocence and plans to leave the area after selling his farm amid unfriendly neighbors. Frederick formerly identified Schroeder but, under oath, could not confirm the gunman, prompting the district attorney to seek discharge.

Rural Carriers Meet to Form County Union in Grand Rapids

A gathering of Rural mail carriers from county routes will meet at Grand Rapids Decoration Day to organize a county union. The court house will host the 10:30 a.m. meeting with nearly all carriers expected to attend as no deliveries run on that day. Marathon county carriers are pursuing a similar effort.

Marshfield started the season with a 5 to 2 win over Owen away last Sunday. Troeb pitched well with an 11 strikeout performance and Staass improved at catcher. Duffy Wendt sprained an ankle sliding into first but fielded strongly before the injury.

Marshfield Builds Electric Light and Water Works Plant

News from Allis Chalmers notes Marshfield Wisconsin is completing its new Electric Light and Water Works Plant. Foundations support two Reliance Belted Engines driving 225 KW and 100 KW 60 cycle three phase generators. Three 50 HP boilers will supply steam. A substation pumps water 17 feet underground to a stand pipe, supplementing the older system.

Memorial Exercises at High School on Decoration Day

Principal D C Gile announces Memorial Day observances at the high school on Wednesday May 9 at 2 30 PM in the assembly rooms. Veterans of Spanish and Civil Wars are invited.
