City triumph in supreme court over water plant case
The Cannors suit against the city to set aside the water power plant purchase was rejected by the supreme court. The opinion, by Justice Dodge, upholds the council authorized contract and rejects fraud allegations. Costs around $4,000 fall on the plaintiffs. the plant is declared to be profitable, fully capable, and will provide self supporting light and water service within four years. Schatz Shoe Store Burglarized On Central Avenue
Schatz and Son’s shoe store on Central Avenue suffered a Wednesday night burglary. Shoes and boxes were strewn about the shop and the inner safe pried open though no money was taken. Mr. Schatz reported the theft to police who search for the culprits.

Fine Farm Sold Near City to Crete Buyer
George H. Welton sold his hundred acre Springbrook farm six miles north of the city to C. A. Gardner of Crete Illinois who will take immediate possession. The farm is highly regarded and well supplied for a desirable rural home. Gardner, 15, is a progressive farmer and is accompanied by his father in law Carl ton, a man of means and business ability. Purchase price was $7,000.

Policy Held Protected in San Francisco Fire Losses
Trad ers Fire Ins. Co of Chicago became the first major insurer to surrender to San Francisco fire losses, placed in receivership Saturday. Despite assets of 3.26 million, losses and claims reach about 5.5 million. insured risk in the city and tributary area is about 46 thousand with a premium of 1,075. Mr. John P. Hume coordinated rapid protection for policyholders, preventing a potential 500 loss. Also reported is the death of William Short in Marshfield from heart failure after an appendicitis operation, a former Fond du Lac Butter and Cheese manager who recently joined Crosby & Meyers, buried at Neillsville with Rev. Soule officiating.

Death of Alderman Adolph Salzman in Marshfield
Alderman Adolph Salzman died shortly before noon last Saturday after a brief illness. He leaves a wife and two sets of children, with Mrs Lillian French of Denver and the Salzman children at home. Funeral services were held in Wausau with Masonic rites, and Salzman, born 1855 in Sneboygan, had served as sheriff, educator, and resident agent before his election as alderman.

Death of Fred Goeres Gane at 76 in city home
Fred Goeres Gane longtime resident and German born in the old city died Wednesday night at his south side home at age 76. He studied medicine in Germany and prescribed here but lacked a diploma and left practice. He is survived by a wife and five grown children, with funeral likely tomorrow from the Catholic church.
