Commencement Week Plans At Local High School

The high school announces a busy commencement week headlined by a Junior Banquet on May 25 and a class play The Rivals at the opera house on June 12. The commencement program closes June 14 with the final exercises. Twenty seven students comprise the Class of 1905, with five orators named and a large cast rehearsing Sheridan's comedy amid school events and community notices.

Firemen Win 12 13. Benefit Baseball Draws $219 at All Grounds

A charity baseball game at the all grounds last Friday raised 219 for San Francisco sufferers. The Firemen beat the Elks 12 to 13 with a late three-run surge in the final half inning. Second Regiment band provided music. Frank Troeh umpired. Firemen’s Hartl Dorschel Zeimer Finney Quinn led runs. Kraus led Elks hitting.

Whit Sollett Relief Fund Committee Formed

At a meeting called Friday evening Mayor Upham named C S Vedder Dr J C Hayward Louis Baumann E C Pors and F A Williams to solicit funds for a relief drive to San Francisco. Dr Hayward was elected chairman with Vedder as secretary and treasurer. Mayor Upham joined the committee and fundraising will begin immediately.

Connor Out of Race for Governor Candidacy

The article notes that W. D. Connor of Marshfield is unlikely to enter the governor race. It says other potential entrants were discussed at length and local confirmation has not occurred. A statement bearing on Connor’s position is expected soon.

Eagle Memorial Rites Planned by Badger Aerie

Badger Aerie No. 624 Fraternal Order of Eagles will hold memorial services at the lodge hall on Sunday May 6 at 2 30 PM This is the first observance since the aerie formed and there have been no deaths in the group The program includes piano solo vocal solos prayers and an oration The observance will be general in nature and conclude with the hymn Nearer My God to Thee sung by all. In other news Frank O Hara a livery stable character was arrested on horse stealing charges with bail set at 500 The case stems from a disputed horse trade with O Hara allegedly selling or returning horses after trials and Wendort claim.
