County Board Special Session Names Standing Committees
The county board opened a special session at the county seat on Tuesday. Hon. A. E. Germer of Dexterville was chosen chairman. A full list of standing committees including Finance, Equalization, Delinquent Taxes, Printing, Public Property, Roads and Bridges, County Poor, General Claims, Judiciary, Immigration, Town Organization, Per Diem, Special State Equalization, and authorship of organizational roles are recorded with chairmen and members. Cigar Factory Planned by Marshfield Pioneer
P Q Drinkwitz, formerly Gund Brewing branch manager, will open a Marshfield cigar factory employing four to five men with five grades of cigars. He aims to build a large trade thanks to Marshfield’s shipping access. He has left for Milwaukee to buy tobacco and plans to occupy the Cherry and Second streets building formerly used by R Connor Co.

Log injury halts Upham train loader at Romeo
Wm. Radke, a loader on the Upham logging train, suffered a broken leg after being struck by a rolling log Wednesday morning at Romeo. He was rushed to Chippewa Falls hospital due to a hospital ticket, rather than local treatment.

Flour Prize Contest Concludes At Banner Mills
Banner Mills awarded three prizes on May 1 after a months long flour sale contest. Mike Steyer won first prize with 639 tickets for 169 1/2 barrels, receiving 3 barrels of Royalty Patent valued at 18 75. A J Meidl earned second prize with 432 tickets for 108 barrels and 1 barrel of Royalty Patent valued at 6 25. D Dorney claimed third prize with 369 tickets for a half barrel. Manager James Vaughn praised the promotion for boosting sales and patronage, with production now over double last year and three times higher in recent weeks.

Accident at Unity Crashes Train After Cow Jump
Conductor Charles Baker of the Wisconsin Central freight No. 3H was severely injured when a cow jumped onto the track causing the caboose and several cars to derail near Unity. Baker pinned under the cupola, one leg fractured and the other bruised. he will be out of work for months. No other crew members hurt.
