Gov. McGovern on April 30 granted leave to A. G. Felker of Marshfield to bring special proceedings in Wood County Circuit Court to determine if city election corrupt practices laws were violated. John B. Chase of Oconto County was named counsel to pursue the action based on Felker’s petition alleging Robert Connor, candidate for mayor, violated the corrupt practices law prior to the April 2 1912 election. Felker cites false disbursement statements, payments to influence electors, saloon owners’ arrangement to supply drinks, and pledges of immunity to lawkeepers if elected.
Reverend M R Laird announces a joint scoutcraft exhibition at the armory on Thursday evening May Sth featuring 125 Stevens Point and 40 Marshfield scouts. The event will showcase blanket tossing woodman prisoner's lock lassoing Indian wrestling semaphore code wireless telegraphy and other stunts with a scout orchestra. Admission is 25 cents for the scout fund.
Mrs Mary C Upham of this city publishes an original poem praising the Titanic heroes. The verse, four stanzas in directness and depth, stands out among recent writings on the disaster, reflecting Marshfield’s distinguished literary voice.
St John parish prepares for a large confirmation class of about 400 led by Bishop Schwebach. A procession from A and Walnut streets will begin at 9 40 with bells, culminating at the church for multiple Masses including English and German sermons. Marshals include Anton Kleinheinz and H C Koenig.
A community drive in the third ward urges residents to garden and curb debris to improve yards and streets in a bid to earn a banner ward title. Contest entries should be sent to Mrs. Ray R. Williams with prizes based on participant numbers, urges Jessica MacFarlane Williams.
Mrs W H Roddis presents the city library with a $100 cash gift to fund additional children's books for the circulating department. The contribution will broaden the range of books for young readers and is praised for its value to the city's children.
A large share of city school contracts have been returned signed as teachers resume the year. In high school several staff members including Hedgecock and Spence plan to stay, with Parker and Van Zandt among those possibly retiring or changing posts. New teachers arrive at Lincoln, while Grant and Jefferson report no changes. A list of grade teachers who returned includes Alice Skinner, Amelia Sorensen, Eisie Maurer, Josephine Bannach, and others.

The third house contest concluded last Saturday with awards at the city library. Forty bird houses were entered by city boys, showcasing notable design and workmanship and surpassing last year in quality. The exhibit drew interest from both adults and youngsters, highlighting increased concern for birds. Prize winners included John Mangold and Chas Below for martin houses, Pen Doege and Chas Cobeen for wrens, plus honorary mentions for Clarence Geschel, Leo Hobb, Cornelius Below, and Robert Kliner.
