Legislation funds unity guards clothing, and Marathon County rail land disposals pass. Local troubles include paymaster actions, a Cornish squire tale, and a young druggist visit. Reinhold Schafer, a farm hand between Cadett and Boyd, discovered a four span bridge on fire between 11 and 12 oclock Friday night. He alerted the Cadett station, aiding section hands to bring the blaze under control and allowing the No. 3 northbound to pass safely. The piece also notes a chimney fire remedy from Appleton fire department using a large wet cloth wound around the stove pipe to generate steam and smother the fire.
