Gas From Peat Demonstrated At Wisconsin Peat Marsh Plant
For nearly a year post Pt Buck Joy and Hon Frank L Fraser have researched peat gas for heating and illumination at their plant near the Wisconsin Central railway track. A crude retort and simple equipment produced gas flames within twenty minutes, lighting several burners for hours. Purification is achievable with proper gear, and the peat gas proved less objectionable than coal gas, offering potential home heating and lighting fuel from the local marshes.
