Ice storm damages city wires and poles. repair push continues
An ice laden storm crippled telephone and electric lines across the city. Wires and five poles in the alley between Central avenue and Maple street south of Fourth street broke and fell, delaying service to Grand Rapids Lindsey Granton and Neillsville for days. Crews from Mr. Marsh and the Badger State Company rush to replace lines and clear debris as trees shed branches and lawns bear the weight of ice. The damage, estimated in the thousands, marks the worst such storm in this vicinity.
